Abstract: Pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) is a novel treatment alternative for metastatic peritoneal cancer. It is feasible with good tolerance and curative effect; the treatment mode is diverse in that it can either be used as a separate treatment or combined with other treatment methods, thus, indicating the need for further prospective studies and clinical trials. The application of this treatment approach to nanomedicine can increase the drug's peritoneal retention time and improve drug targeting to the tumor site. Clinical evidence on the advantages of PIPAC alone and in combination with other treatment methods is increasing. In this paper, the theoretical basis, development process, efficacy, safety, and application of PIPAC to nanomedicine in the treatment of gastric cancer are reviewed.
