Abstract:
Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor among Chinese women. Patients with breast cancer often choose breast mastectomy for prolonged survival. However, breast mastectomy causes severe psychological trauma and pressure. Notably, in clinical treatment, implant-based reconstruction has been frequently used for breast reconstruction. To date, there is no unified conclusion about the merits and demerits of direct-to-implant (DTI) and two-stage tissue expander/implant (TE/I) breast reconstruction. Herein, we present a comparative study of DTI and TE/I breast reconstruction with respect to complications, satisfaction, and cost incurred in recent years.
