Abstract:
Objective:To detect the correlation of the expression of BAG-1 with clinical features and sensi-tivity to platinum-based chemotherapy of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and to further investigate the mechanism of resistance to platinum. Methods:The expression of BAG-1 was measured by immunohisto-chemistry in paraffin sections of125 NSCLC patients treated with surgery. Seventy-five of the125 patients re -ceived postoperative platinum–based chemotherapy. Results: BAG 1 was highly expressed in NSCLC sam -ples, with a positive rate of 64.8% . BAG-1 expression was correlated with histological grade. Samples from patients with poorer histological grade had higher BAG-1 expression. No correlation was found between BAG-1 expression and other clinical characteristics. Patients with BAG- 1 expression had better survival com -pared with those without BAG- 1 expression (P=0.039 ). Platinum-based chemotherapy didn ’t not prolong sur -vival time in patients with BAG- 1 expression but benefited those without BAG- 1 expression (P=0.048 ). Conclusion: BAG-1 protein expression is correlated with the NSCLC patients ’sensitivity to platinum-based chemo-therapy. BAG- 1 protein can be a new prognostic indicator and is helpful for developing individualized treat-ment for NSCLC.
