Abstract:
Objective:To analyze the clinical and pathological features of intravenous leiomyomatosis of the uterus and to investigate its diagnosis and treament. Methods:We reviewed the data of16IVL cases treated in our hospital between 2004 and 2009. Results: IVL had similar clinical manifestations to myoma of the uterus and adenomyosis. The diagnositic rate of preoperative ultrasonography was low. Most IVL can be diagnosed during surgery. IVL occured in the corpus, cervix and broad ligament. Myomectomy, hysterectomy or oophorectomy were performed to remove IVL. One case had recurrence after surgery. Conclusion:IVL is benign tumor with features of growth and metastasis. Its preoperative diagnosis is difficult. Careful exploration, total resection and close followed-up are needed.
