Abstract: To investigate the inhibitory effects of the invigorating spleen and replenishing Qi formula on gastric cancer. Methods: The MKN-28 gastric cancer cells were used for direct injection and developing the xenograft mouse model. The mice were then treated by the invigorating spleen and replenishing Qi formula. VEGF was examined with an ELISA kit. Apoptosis was examined using a TUNEL kit. Mg2+-ATP enzyme and G-6-P enzyme were examined with a chromogenic kit. Results: Apoptosis increased in the treated group, while the VEGF level was decreased in this group. The activity of Mg2+-ATP enzyme and G-6-P enzyme was inhibited in the treated group. Moreover, the weight and tumor volume were decreased in the treatment group. Conclusion: The invigorating spleen and replenishing Qi formula inhibits the growth of gastric cancer by inducing apoptosis, inhibiting the angiogenesis and suppressing the metabolism of tumor cells.
