Abstract:
Objective To study the expression of thymidylate synthase and proliferative cell nucleax antigen in endometrial carcinoma and their relationship with the prognosis.
Methods Expression of two indexes was detected by immunohistochemistry in 48 endometrial carcinoma tissues. Their relationship with the clinicopathological parameters and prognosis was analyzed.
Results TS expression in EMC significantly increased compared with that in the normal group (P= 0.008). TS expression was significantly correlated with four clinicopathologic parameters: histologic type (P= 0.021), depth of invasion (P= 0.010), clinical stage (P= 0.047), and lymph node metastasis (P= 0.022) PCNA expression in EMC significantly increased compared with that in the normal group (PPC NA = 0.000) and in the atypical hyperplasia group (P= 0.002). PCNA expression correlated with the differentiation (P= 0.010) and myometrial invasion (P= 0.001). TS expression was positively correlated with PCNA (r= 0.71, P < 0.01).
Conclusion TS and PCNA expressions in EMC significantly increased, indicating their possible importance as prognostic indicators of endometrial carcinoma.
