Abstract:
Breast reconstruction surgery has gradually evolved to be an important means in the surgical treatment of breast cancer. In recent years, with the increase in the number of breast reconstruction surgeries being performed, the proportion of bilateral breast reconstruction (BBR) surgeries is also on the rise. The rationale behind this rise in the number of BBR surgeries is the increasing number of prophylactic mastectomies and incidence of bilateral breast cancers. This review will elucidate the indications, reconstruction methods, complications, and long-term effects of bilateral breast reconstruction surgery.
