Abstract:
Malignancy is a significantly threatens for human healthy that are difficult to cure. In recent years, a variety of treatment methods such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy have been used for tumor treatment. However, it's necessary to explore the better treatment methods to improve the efficiency of tumor treatment and adaptability of patients because of the side effects and poor prognosis of these methods. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is one of the most promising therapeutic methods for tumor treatment. Compared with traditional treatment methods, PDT is less invasive and does not easily damage normal tissues. Additionally, it can effectively induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) and stimulate immunity, which make it an ideal minimally invasive treatment method for tumors. This article will briefly review some of the current tumor treatment strategies involving the combination of PDT and anti-tumor immunotherapy treatment with regard to the characteristics of PDT that can induce anti-tumor immunity.
