Abstract:
The burden of cervical cancer in China is very high, and there is great scope for improvement with respect to strategies for its prevention. Understanding the etiology and carcinogenesis of cervical cancer has led to a decrease in its incidence and mortality owing to the application of cervical cancer screening. However, the poor cytology and colposcopy diagnosis at primary healthcare clinics restricts the whole screening performance. Recently, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced new opportunities for cervical cancer screening, primarily benefiting doctors by improving diagnostic ability and accelerating the fulfillment of the global goal of cervical cancer elimination. This review aims to review the latest research progress in the application of AI in cervical cancer screening.
