Abstract:
Objective: To explore the clinical effect of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) combined with Jin-long capsules on primary liver cancer.
Methods: A total of 94 patients with primary liver cancer were divided into twogroups: 40 cases were treated with HIFU (group Ⅰ), and the other 54 were treated with combination of HIFU and Jinlongcapsules(group Ⅱ). After three months' treatment, the changes in the AFP level and tumor size were analyzed. The 1-, 2-,and 3-year survival rates were calculated with Kaplan-Meier method and compared between the two groups.
Results: Inboth groups, the AFP level decreased after treatment, especially in groupⅡ. The 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rates were81.6%, 59.2% and 33.3% in group Ⅱ, and 67.6%, 40.5% and 21.6% in group Ⅰ, respectively(
P<0.01). Serious complica-tions like burn of skin, bleeding, gastrointestinal perforation were not observed.
Conclusion: HIFU combined with Jinlongcapsules is feasible and safe in treating primary liver cancer, and can achieve better results than HIFU alone. It is moreeffective in decreasing the AFP level and improving survival rates.
