Abstract:
Objective : To study effcetive treatment of laryngeal carcinoma with recurrence and metastasis.
Methods : 43 cases laryngeal carcinoma with recurrence and metastasis underwent operation from 1981 to 2001. The choice of surgical procedures varied with different pathologic and clinical conditions. The repairation of surgical defects included pectoralis major myocutanous flap, delto-ectopectoralis flap,split skin flap ,stomach flap and laryngotracheal flap.
Results : From the time of the first operation, the 3-and 5-year survival rates were 60.47% and 41.89%, respectively. 95.35% had normal pharyngeal functions, 7 cases restored laryngeal function.
Conclusion : A proper surgical treatment of laryngeal carcinoma with recurrence and metastasis can prolong the lifetime and advance the life quality of the patients.
