Abstract:
Objective : To study the radiation doses and radiation region for early breast cancer after radical operation and simply modified operation.
Methods : Treatment results were compared between 418 stage T NM breast cancer patients who received postoperative radiotherapy (RT) and 180 patients who received operation only (OT) from March 1980 through 1993. 86 cases received radiation doses ≥50Gy (HRT) AND 148 cases received lymphatic drainage regions and chest wall radiation (RCT).
Results : The 10-year survival rates and recurrence rates for patients with >4 positive axillay Lymph nodes in HRTgroup and OT group were 66.7%, 34.5%(P<0.05) and 6.3%, 34.5%(P<0.05), respectively; Among the patients who received the postoperative radiation of chest wall and lymphatic drainage region compare with the OT group, the 10-year survival rate and recurrence rate for patients with >4 positive axillary lymph nodes in CRT group and OT group were 62.8%, 34.5% (P<0.05) and 4.7%, 34.5%(P<0.05), respectively.
Conclusion : Increasing radiation dose to ≥50Gy can low the recurrence of chest wall and supraclaricular lymph nodes.
