Abstract:
Objective :To discuss the feasibility of 3-incision treatment for the patients who aged at 70 years old or above.
Methods : A retrospective review of 51 patients underwenincision operative treatments, with the age of 70 years or alx>ve (test group), 146 patients underwent other operations,with the age of 70 years old or above (control group 1) and 103 patients underwent 3-incision treatment, who aged at less than 70 old years (control group 2).
Results :The main postoperative complication of test group was cardiorespiratory complications, showing no significant difference when compared to control group. The incidence of cardiorespiratory complication closely related to the preoperative abnormality of heart and pulmonary function. Conclusion: It is recommended that the patients, at 70 years old or above and with upper or middle esophageal carcinomas, select the 3-incision operative treatment if condition is applicable.
