Abstract:
Objective :To evaluate the clinical outcome of modified Studer neobladder after radical cystectomy.
Methods :Radical cystectomy and modified Studer neobladder operation were performed in 5 male patients with bladder cancer. Clinical outcome of these patients was evaluated.
Results :All patients recovered smoothly. Four of the 5 patients achieved acceptable daytime and nighttime continence after following-up for 6-12 months. One patient can not urinate after the catheter withdrawal. No ureteral stenosis and dilation of upper urinary tract were found by intravenous pyelography during the follow- up.
Conclusions :Our preliminary results show that modified operation on Studer neobladder is an easily performed urinary diversion with low surgery complication and satisfactory good clinical effect.
