Abstract:
Objective : To investigate the clinical manifestation and imaging findings of meningeal carcinomatosis (MC) with an initial presentation of sudden onset dysaudia.
Methods :The clinical data, cerebrospinal fluid examination and the results of cranial MRI in 7 patients with MC wire reviewed.
Results :Seven Patients with MC may present with a variety of symptoms and signs as the cranial nerves palsies (VII nerve 3 cases,VI nerve 2 cases,IX、X nerve 1 case, V nerve 1 case )and the spinal roots palsies(peripheral paralysis of extremities 2 cases), all had meningeal irritation.
Conclusions :MC with an initial presentation of sudden onset dysaudia is easy to cause an misdiagnosis. Cytologic study of CSF is still the most convenient and direct evidence in diagnosis of MC. Abnormal pia- subarachnoid space enheacement is the characteristic imaging manifestation for the diagnosis of MC.
