Abstract:
Objective : To study the relationship between cervical carcinoma and pelvic lymph node metastasis before operation.
Methods : Vascularizations of cervical carcinoma tissue from 22 cases were observed by color Doppler flow image to measure resistance index(RI) quantatively, and the biopsy specimen of the cervical carcinoma obtained before operation and the microvessel desity (MVD) were also assessed immunohitochemicaly by using the specific endothelial cell markers FⅧ-RA.The association between tumor angiogenetic activity and lymph node metastasis were studied further.
Results : 1 )The value of RI of pelvic lymph node metastasis LN(+) were much lower than LN(-)group(P<0.05). 2)MVD expression were higher in LN(+) group than in LN(-)group (P <0.01), but there is no difference between MVD of biopsy specimen obtained before operation and MVD of the tumor. 3) The value of RI reacting angiogenetic activity was positive correlative to MVD (r=-0.78, P<0.01).
Conclusions : Cervical carcinoma angiogenetic activity is closely correlated with pelvic lymph node metastasis. CDFI and MVD of the biopsy from the tumor before operation may serve as a parameter for determining tumor metastasis potential and removing lymph node.
