Abstract: Objective: To summarize the clinical features, methods of treatment and the prognosis in basal cell carcinoma of the vavla. Mothods: The clinical data of the 8 cases with basal call carcinoma of the vavla, admitted in the Center from January 1964 to December 2002, were reviewed retrospectively. Results: The average age of the patients in the 8 cases was 61, and the mean time from the onset to diagnosis of the disease was 4.5 years. Two of the 8 cases received the first surgery in other hospital and received complementary surgery. Three cases received simple local excision, 3 cases received extensive local excision. Two patients died of other diseases and 1 lost the follow-up after 8 years. Five achieved the disease-free survival for a long time. Conclusion: Basal sell carcinoma of the vulva is an extremely uncommon tumor that rarely metastasizes or spreads. The prognosis of the disease is fairly good. Local excision of the focus or extensive local excision with negative incisal margins is the choice for the treatment.
