Abstract:
Objective :To study the therapeutic effects of patients with Vater's carcinoma of am-pulla treated by different surgical methods.
Methods :The clinical and pathological data of 116 patientstreated by the surgical intervention were retrospectively analyzed.
Results :A total of 38 cases withVater's carcinoma of ampulla received local resection. The operative mortality was 0% and the morbid-ity of the diseases was 13.16%. The 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates were 83.52%, 66.34% and51.36%, respectively. 62 cases underwent pancreatoduodenectomy, the intraoperative mortality was1.61% and the rate of postoperative complication was 22.58%. Among them 22 was early cases, the in-traoperative mortality was 0% and the rate of postoperative complication was 18.18%. The 1-, 3-and5-year survival rates were 85.33%, 64.56% and 53.27%, respectively. Palliative operation was per-formed in 16 cases, the 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates were 11.12%, 0% and 0%, respectively.
Con-Clusion : Surgical excision is an effective method for carcinoma of ampulla of Vater. Local excision is asafe operation with low complication and a good survival rate in carefully selected cases. It is essentialto use rational operation in order to improve the results of surgical treatment.
