Abstract: Objective: To investigate the value of clinical application for minimal excision and biopsy of the mastotic focus using Mammotome under ultrasonic guidance. Methods: The excision and biopsy of 100 breast masses from 89 patients were conducted and the pathology types and follow upswere recoded. Results: Total resection and biopsy of 100 mastotic foci were preformed by Mammotome vacuum device. It can supply enough tissue for pathological diagnosis. Forty-three cases were fibroade-noma, 19 were adenosis, 2 were ducal atypical hyperpla and 36 were breast cancer. Hematoma was found in 2 cases. The incision was small and hidden. The appearance of breast remained well. Sixtycases were followed up for a period of time and no residual or recurrent masses were found. No paintingmetastasis were found in needle tunnel after pathological examination. Conclusion: Mammotome vacu-um device is a exact, effective and safe method. It is an ideal minimally invasive operation in treating benign breast masses with few complications. It can also be applied to biopsy for breast cancer before operation.
