Abstract:
Objective :To discuss the role of MMP-9 and EGFR expression in Lauren's classifica-tion of gastric carcinoma.
Methods :Immunohistochemistry SP method was performed in 74 cases ofgastric carcinoma. The positive expression rate of the genes encoding these proteins was investigatedand compared with clinicopathological parameters.
Results :The positive expression rate of MMP-9and EGFR were higher in gastric carcinoma than in the adjacent tissues (P<0.05).The amount anddensity of positive expression were increased with elevated staging of carcinoma. Expression of EGFRwas higher in diffuse-type gastric carcinoma than in the intestinal type (P<0.05).
Conclusions :a)MMP-9 and EGFR play important roles of modulation in the progression of gastric carcinoma. b) Dur-ing abnormal proliferation and malignant transformation of gastric cancer cells, there is another cell sig-nal transducing system in addition to the EGFR pathway.
