Abstract:
The recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is extremely high, even after poten-tially curative treatments with surgical resection. To control the high rate of tumorigenesis in high- riskgroup will be the target of chemoprevention. As a new approach for cancer control, cancer chemopre-vention, which can be defined as the use of specific natural or synthetic chemical agents to reverse, suppress or prevent carcinogenic progression into invasive cancer, is obtaining prominent results. Thisstudy summarizes the roles of retinoids, interferon, oltipraz, COX- 2 inhibitor, selenium, curcumin andchlorophyllin in the chemoprevention of HCC. Chemoprevention is a emerging field of oncology wherehuman beings may greatly benefit from it.
