Abstract: Objective: To observe the short-term efficacy,toxicity and side effect of adjuvant high dose brachytherapy in soft tissue sarcoma. Methods: 11 patients with soft tissue sarcoma treated by brachytherapy. All patients underwent gross extensive resection. After-loading catheters were placed in-traoperatively in the tumor bed.Brachytherapy was received at from the third to the fourth day after op-eration. Dose was given 200cGy twice a day,for five days. External irradiation was given 3000-4000cGyafter wound healing.Reslut: No patients have local recurrence except one .One patient died for distant metastasis. No patients have serious toxicity and side effect. Conclusion: Adjuvant high-dose brachytherapy was safe and easy to practice and provided better local control.It would be a satisfactory choice in the treatment of in soft tissue sarcoma.
