Abstract:
Objective : To describe the clinical characteristics of eosinophilic lymphoid granuloma (ELG) and to evaluate its therapy.
Methods: Forty-one cases with ELG were studied retrospectively, including the data such as sex, age, clinical manifestation, pathology, laboratory examination and thera-py.
Results : Of the 41 cases of ELG, males were seen more often than females and the mean age was 39.9 years. The 5-year survival rate was 90.24% and the most commonly affected region was the parotid gland (38.2%). Radiotherapy, combined with surgery, can achieve a satisfactory therapeutic effect.
Conclusion : Local masses in the maxillofacial region with pruritus, pigmentation of the skin and significantly elevated numbers of eosinophilic cells should initially be diagnosed as the ELG. Combin-ing therapy provides effective therapy.
