Abstract: There are increasing research data to support the hypothesis that tumor is originated from its stem cell. Specific bio-marker of tumor stem cells (TSCs) had been successfully isolated in leukemia, breast cancer, brain tumor and some other types of tumor. There were intensive studies fo-cused on defining the hepatic stem cell and its relation with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) since longtime and interesting progress had been made. But since now, hepatoma stem cell had not been success-fully isolated because lack of the specific bio-marker even theoretically there might be. Here, we re-viewed and summarized recent published data and research progress focusing on the stem cell and tu-morigenesis study, also our understanding and perspectives.
