Abstract:
Object : To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of modified MAID arterial infusion chemotherapy of advanced soft tissue sarcoma.
Methods : All of 21 patients with advanced soft tissue sarcoma received regional selected arterial infusion chemotherapy with port system. They were treated by modified MAID (Pirarubicin 60mg/m
2 ciacontinuous infusion arterial 72h Dacarbazine 1000mg/m
2 cia 72h Ifosfamide 6000mg/m
2 civcontinuous infusion venous 72h Mesna 10g/m
2 civ 96h) with a course of treatment of 21 to 28 days.
Results : The overall effective rate was 57.14%, with a complete response in 1 case and partial response in anther 10 cases. The media remission was 4.9 months. Fifteen patients are still alive. On the other hand, the major toxicities included myelosuppression, gastrointestinal toxicity and alopecia. Other toxicities included fatigue, anorexia and phlebitis.
Conclusion : The response rate of modified MAID arterial infusion for advanced soft tissue sarcoma was good efficacy and high toxicities and more prospective studies are needed.
