Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the prognostic factors related to long-term survival of gastric cancer patients who underwent radical gastrectomy. Methods:We retrospectively analyzed the data of gastric cancer patients who underwent radical resection in our hospital between January 2001and December 2002. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates were as -sessed. SPSS 13.0 software was employed for statistical analysis. Resulst: The 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates were 72.50% ,52.50% , and42.00% , respectively. Univariate analysis showed that age, surgical method, tumor diameter, Bor-rmann type, resection of other organs, tumor invasion, extent of lymph-metastasis and clinical stage were correlated with postoperative survival (P<0.05). But multivariate analysis revealed that only age, surgical method, tumor invasion and clinic stage were independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer (P<0.05). Conclusion:Age, surgical method, tumor invasion and clinical. stage are the most important prognostic factors for gastric cancer.
