Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) found to be pervasively transcribed in the genome are emerging as new players in the cancer paradigm. LncRNAs demonstrate potential roles both in oncogenic and tumor suppressive pathways. Although these novel genes are frequently aberrantly expressed in various human cancers, the biological functions of the vast majority remain unknown. Re- cently, evidence proving the significant relationship between LncRNAs with tumorigenesis and development has started to accumulate. This review summarizes the recent progress, both domestic and overseas, in research on specific LncRNAs in human carcinomas.
