Abstract:
Objective This study was designed to investigate the risk factors for lymph node metastasis in early gastric cancer.
Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological data of 215 patients with early gastric cancer treated at the Anhui Province Hospital from January 2005 to December 2010.The relationship between lymph node metastasis and cliniopathological factors was evaluated by univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses.
Results Univariate analysis showed that tumor size(P=0.001), depth of invasion(P=0.000), and Helicobacter pylori infection(P=0.000) were associated with lymph node metastasis.Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that the depth of invasion was considered a significant risk factor(P < 0.05).
Conclusion The depth of invasion is the risk factor for lymph node metastasis in early gastric cancer.
