Abstract:
Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is a kind of polypeptide that serves an important function in mitogen, proliferation, and angiogenesis. bFGF is a potential anti-cancer therapy target and its receptor is highly expressed in tumor tissue. Antitumor drugs such as anti-bFGF antibody and FGFR antagonists are being developed to block tumor growth and metastasis. In this paper, bFGF and its receptor signaling pathway in tumor development and metastasis is investigated, and clinical translational research is reviewed.
