Abstract: Peritoneal carcinomatosis is obtaining extensive attention because of its late detection and poor prognosis. Lately, cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) are widely used for the treatment of this condition and could be effective in some carefully selected patients. Different chemotherapies are combined with CRS or HIPEC, and different drug administration routes are used, such as intraperitoneal or pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy. Furthermore, the results of many clinical trials differed among patients with different types of cancer. Herein, we reviewed recent studies in patients with gastric, colon, and ovarian cancer to evaluate the progress of chemotherapy for peritoneal carcinomatosis.
