Abstract:
Objective :To study the expression of Survivin and the clinical significance for patients with HCC.
Methods :Expression of Survivin and VEGF in 67 HCC patients were assessed by im-munohistochemistry staining.
Results :The Survivin's expression was detected in 35/67 (52.2%). The expression rate of Survivin was higher in HCC group than that of the adjacent nontumorous liver and the normal liver groups (
P<0.05). There was significant correlation between the expression of Survivin in HCC and the tumor thrombus in portal vein (
P<0.05). VEGF expression rate was 61.1%. The positive rate of VEGF was correlated significantly with tumor size, portal vein tumor thrombus and TNM stage (
P<0.05). By Kaplan-Meier Log-rank estimation,it was found the positive expression of Survivin was associated with poorer survival compared with the negative expression(
P=0.001 8).
Conclusions :Survivin and VEGF is up-regulated in HCC patients.The intrahepatic hematogenous metastasis is related to expression of Survivin and VEGF. Survivin is demonstrated as the prognostic factor for patients undergoing hepatic resection.
