Abstract:
Objective : To explore clinical and pathological features of breast NEC.
Methods : From the operative specimens of 525 cases with breast carcinoma, according to morphological features by microscopic observation and detection of neuroendocrine markers by immunohistochemical staining, five cases of neuroendocrine carcinomas and six cases of ductal carcinomas with neuroendocrine cell differentiation were chosen and analysed.
Results : The mean age of patients was 41 years. The mean size of tumors was 2.8cm. No metastases of lymph node were found and clinical stagings were belowⅡ.Radical or modified radical resection of breast carcincmas were performed, CGA、NSE and SYN were positively expressed (at least 2/3) in all 5 cases. The positive rates of all tumor cells were >50%, Follow-up from 6 to 34 months were performed postoperatively, and all were tumor-free survivals.
Conclusion : The age of the patients with breast NEC in China is lower compared to foreign countries. The incidence in this group is within 2% and the prognosis is superior to other types of breast carcinoma.
