Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expression of insulin growthfactor-Ⅱ(IGF-Ⅱ) and insulin-like growth factor-receptor (IGF-ⅡR) and the histological type, stage, infiltration as well as metastasis of gastric carcinoma (GC).Methods: The expression of IGF-Ⅱ and ofIGF-ⅡR were tested by S-P immunohistochemistry in 67 cases of GC, 16 cases of chronic atrophicgastritis (CAG) and 13 cases of chronic atrophic gastritis dysplasia (CAGD).Results: The positive ex-pression rate of IGF-Ⅱin GC group was 76.1%(51/67), which was much higher than in CAGD andCAG groups (P<0.05, P<0.01). There was significant difference between CAGD group and CAG group(P<0.05). The expression of IGF-Ⅱ was closely correlated to the tumor differentiation, depth of infiltra-tion, tumor size, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage (P<0.05-0.01), respectively. The positive ex-pression rate of IGF-ⅡR in GC group was 59.7% (40/67), which expressed more than that in CAGgroup (P<0.01). The expression of IGF-ⅡR was also correlated to the tumor differentiation (P<0.05),but no correlation with depth of infiltration, tumor size, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage.Con-clusion: The excessive expression of IGF-Ⅱmay be synergist in the carcinogenesis and development ofGC, which may be an earlier molecul event in the process of occurrence of GC. It may also have an in-fluence its biological behavior. The excessive expression of IGF-ⅡR may have an auxo-action in the occurrence and differentiation of GC. The combination of IGF-Ⅱand IGF-ⅡR may be an referencemarker in the surgical treatment and the prognosis of GC.
