Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the indications, operational method and effect of TURBT for elderly patients. Methods: From February, 1993 to December 2005, 120 cases with bladder tumors were treated by transurethral resection with simple electrical cuff. Results: The rate of bladder tumor resection was 100%. No hemorrhea occurred in the operation, and the TURBT syndrome and vesical perforation were not found, too. After the operation, a total of 120 cases had been followed-up for 0.2~13 years, with 36 cases of recurrence. The recurrence rate was 30%. Conclusions: There are many advantages for TURBT treatment on elder patients with bladder tumor, such as simple operation, minor lesion, less bleeding and quick postoperative recovery. The operation method can reserve good bladder function and even may replace the partial cysto-ectomy.
