Abstract: Objective: To appraise the method and curative effects of endoscope-assisted modified radical mastectomy with preservation of the nipple for breast cancer patients. Methods: Twenty-four patients with breast cancer received endoscope-assisted modified radical mastectomy with preservation of the nipple during the period from September 2004 to April 2006. Results: No obvious complication was found in any patient and cosmetic results were good. Neither local recurrence nor distant metastasis was observed in the group. The longest follow-up period was 18.6 months and the median was 9.2 months. Conclusion: The endoscope-assisted modified radical mastectomy with preservation of the nip- ple is recommended for treatment of early breast cancer patients.
