Abstract:
Objective : The correlation of the expression of VEGF and MVD and Clinical patho-logical endpoints and prognosis of esophageal carcinoma was determined.
Methods : In 43 cases, expression of VEGF and MVD of esophageal carcinoma were examined using immunohistochemical staining, the correlation of VEGF and MVD and Clinical pathological endpoints, local control rate, disease-free survival rate and overall survival rate were analyzed by using Pearson's rank correlation method.
Results : The expression of VEGF has a positive correlation with T classification. There was no rela-tionship between MVD and tumor location and histological stage. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that positive margin is the independent prognostic factor for local control rate, and Tumor location, positive margin, T classification and expression of VEGF were that for disease-free survival rate and overall survival rate, MVD had no significant relationship with prognosis.
Conclusions : VEGF may reflect the disease progression of esophageal carcinoma, and benefit for prognostic evaluation, which is worth further study by more samples.
